Travelling in Japan, it is hard to avoid taking in MSG, as it is common for people to cook with it in Japan. It is safe to use monosodium glutamate (MSG) on any dish that you desire to add flavor. Many cooks to give their dishes more taste for a long time already have easily used this substance. In addition, as this is food flavor enhancer, it should be used at minimal amount only. You should know that the recommended amount of monosodium glutamate (MSG) is half a teaspoon per pound of meat. That is about a pinch of MSG for a dish that has 4 to 6 servings. Using more than this recommendation will mean too much food additive and can actually make your dish taste bad. It is best to stick to the mentioned proportion.

Studies have been conducted by different independent agencies in both the government and the private sector. This is to ensure that this food additive is safe for usage as food is one of the basic necessities of the people. The FDA or the United States Food and Drugs Administration, Health Canada and Food Standards Australia New Zealand among other teams of researchers have concluded that monosodium glutamate is safe to use. According to their reports, there was not enough reaction by the respondents to make this substance not good for consumption.

Monosodium glutamate has been said to cause headache, numbness or tingling of the face, sweating, flushing, palpitation, nausea, seating chest pain or weakness. However, these are all not back-upped by evidence and are also non-conclusive. People tend to focus on the MSG alone when eating food when there are other elements in the food that could have caused the adverse reaction such as the salt or wine added to it. There was no study made to check out if the other food ingredients were the culprit to side effects of the eaters especially to those who have health concerns or tendencies for cardiovascular diseases.

In conclusion, monosodium glutamate has been given the safety signal for consumption with food. Amidst all the starts and stops that this substance has received in the last century because of a few who think it is not good, it still has high demand not just for you in preparing meals but for food processing as well. It is one of the ingredients in most food manufacturing companies if not all. So if you have been eating processed food and can say that you are healthy and well, then there is no need to worry of using MSG.

The craze for Tokyo among tourists seem to be catching on in Japan, for it is a gold mine of intriguing attractions and it accommodates all the passionate visitors in the background of subtle facilities. There are Tokyo’s luxury hotels that every now and then keep boasting about their procurements and keep instigating tourists to get their acts together so as to lap up the real splendor of Tokyo. If the two bedroom single bath apartment arrangement just isn’t cutting it, luxury apartments just may be the way to go. They offer scenic views, centralized locations and plenty of perks, luxury apartments offer residents the freedom and excitement of a high-end lifestyle without the hassles that come along with home ownership. Now, one must foresee different aspects before enjoying the various services offered by the luxury apartments. The first important thing is the location. Shopping is the main task people do while staying in a luxury hotel or apartment, so if one happens to live in a large metropolitan area, chances are to find few options available.

Commuting on a daily basis to marketplaces and commercial spots should be taken care of, so that it doesn’t burn a hole in the pocket of the traveler. After choosing the location, it is advised to search the field. Gain and write down important information about the area. Now after knowing what’s needed to be done, take a look at those needs. Depending on these situations and preferences, it will behoove to find out which facilities best suited. Next, expenses should be taken care of. Take help of the online resources through internet, check out reviews, ratings and official sites to obtain a better idea of what the things could be. Many of these sites offer virtual tours to showcase their environment.

Taking the help of the agents and property owners, one can take a tour of the apartment, and further decisions can be made on it. Valuable information taken out from these tours should be kept in mind while making further moves. Apart from these steps one should also take care that living in Tokyo is not just confined in living in the plush zones, i.e, one can instinctively develop the inclination to throng the hang-outs like restaurants that delivers numerous scrumptious food items. Considering this fact, places such as Roppongi Hills has maintained itself with the overflow of restaurants, entertainment zones as well as plethora of stores that leave all the hotels guests convulsed with loads of satisfaction. Shoppers can also turn their way towards Omotesando, which offers an exhaustive survey of sophisticated boutiques. And the most captivating area, primarily for foodies is popularly referred as Ginza. One can spot the most happening crowd frequenting this place. Therefore, along with enjoying the fountain at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo or slobbering over the five-star equipments of the Intercontinental Tokyo Bay, one can have the truly absorbing scenes that constitute the charm that we relate Tokyo with.

It would be important for you to acknowledge the tips and useful facts before you travel to Harajuku. Harajuku is located at the heart of Japan and is famous for its extreme teenage cultures and trend styles. It does not matter if you are an adult person because there are some places where you can shop as well. You can also see some historic sights as well if you visit certain places. To know the culture of this city you will have to visit the place on Sunday. This is because many people especially young ones gather in the city by wearing crazy costumes and wander around. If you are planning to visit Harajuku other than Sundays then you would not be able to experience the anime culture and crazy costumes.

It would be important to know the fast and epic way to reach Harajuku if you are traveling to this city. You should know each and every stop to reach your destination without wasting your time. If you are coming from the Akasaka subway station then you should reach the Omotesando station and get out of the train. You will have to transfer to the Hanzomom line and reach the Shibuya station. At this station you will have to get off the train and search for the yellow signs saying “Hachiko Exit”. Then you will have to get in the train and choose the green JR Yamanote line. This will take to the next station called Harajuku. It would be vital for you to understand and know the streets and pathways in Harajuku because it would save you a lot of your time. You should visit the famous places of Harajuku. When you plan to leave the place you will have to reach Omotesando station. This would take you back to Akasaka.

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening and perhaps goodnight…no not goodnight come back don’t leave…don’t leeeeaaavee….*clears throat* Yes anyway welcome, this is my blog in which I shall barrage you with opinions on subjects far and wide…(probably not that wide actually) hopefully it shall be fairly factual though I make no such promise

Harajuku Takeshita exit

So I recently started living in the Harajuku area of Tokyo (no you can’t stay with me….well maybe…..probably not though) for those of you who may have never been here or have only heard of the area because of a Gwen Stefani song “From the hoods of Japan, Harajuku girls”…What hoods are you talking about miss Stefani? Are they invisible hoods that I am incapable of seeing because I don’t have magical Gwen-O-Vision that can only be acquired by running down Takeshita Dori blindfolded randomly grabbing clothes to form into some ultra trend redefining outfit?

You may sense some sarcasm there because things often come across as sarcastic online, however I am deadly serious, if there are hidden hoods around I want to know about it.

Harajuku is full of all sorts of interestingly garbed people, I am not hugely into fashion to be entirely honest, but I must admit as ridiculous as some of the outfits are to me, I’m still impressed by the creativity and the bravery it takes to wear some of that stuff. Before anyone shouts at there screen indignantly “They don’t need to be brave because Japanese people are very tolerant of cosplayers and stuff!” Please allow me to assure you that you are in fact utterly wrong. Standing out in Japanese culture is a risky business and just because (unlike in the west) no one will punch you in the head for dressing in a strange manner, doesn’t mean people don’t think you are a mentalist.

So they are brave in many ways and bravo to them I say.

Now I must be and don my suit and tie and disappear into the sea of workers heading to their office jobs….and maybe just maybe I shall wish I was standing on Jingu Bridge dressed as a Gundam or Godzilla……Yes Godzilla, that would be a fantastic outfit for a spot of afternoon shopping.

Bye for now all
